Nursery

Welcome to Carle class.

Please download our nursery application here.

Dear parents,

Welcome back to school, I hope you didn’t eat too many Easter eggs?

Can you believe we are now in the summer term.

We are now working with the children to get them ready to move to their new classes in September, this is something we need help with, the children are becoming very independent now, but they need to be able to dress and undress themselves, put on their own shoes and look after their books and bags. Encourage your children at home to fold their clothes, put them away, check they have everything in their bags, it is a big task I know but if we start now they will be ready to take on the challenge of reception class. Back to nursery as we still have a few months left together, the weather hopefully will now improve, and we will be spending more time outside. The children can wear dark blue smart shorts to school, they need a sun hat for outside, and if you wish your child to have sun cream on please send it to school with their name on it.

Our theme this term is growing, we will be learning about plants, seeds and bulbs and why they are so beneficial to the environment.

Maths

In maths we will be investigating length, comparing two unequal lengths; using language of long, longer, longest. Short, shorter and shortest.

Literacy

We will be focusing on language development and building up the children’s vocabulary and sentence structure.

Phonics

Phonics is a very important part of our day, we will be learning new sounds every week and building up our reading skills by blending sounds together to read new words.

As you can imagine nursery have a very busy day and I bet they just come home and say “no learning today we just played” nursery work hard to achieve their learning goals and most of this is done through play there is lots of information on the Internet. A document called every child matter’s is very interesting to read and informative.

If you have any questions, we are always here to help

Kind regards

Mrs S Baker
