Central Office

Welcome to Carle class.

Please download our nursery application here.

In nursery this term we will be looking at how we travel. The children are all very excited about this topic as we will be looking at spaceships, trains, hot air balloons, cable cars, airplanes, buses, cars…………. And the list goes on.

A fabulous place to take the children is the transport museum in Covent Garden, there are lots of buses and trains to get on, if not just go on a journey! In London we are very lucky, travel is reasonably cheap, we have trains, buses, trams, cable cars, water taxis and ferries. I’m sure you will have a lovely time. Some of the stories we will be looking at are;

The treasure of pirate Frank

Whatever next by Jill murphy

The hundred decker bus by Mike Smith

If your children have any stories at home about travel please send them in, we would love to read them.

In Maths this term we will be concentrating on number. The children need to recognise numbers out of rote, count with one to one correspondence, know that when they count to a number that’s how many they have (the cardinal number), they need to be able to order numbers. We will be playing lots of games, using numbers in play, singing songs and looking at each number in depth.

The children have started phonics, we are on set one sounds. For those parents who did not come to the induction meetings we use Ruth Miskins Read write Inc program, it is extremely good, there is lots of information on the internet, or you are more than welcome to come into nursery and ask about it.

 The children are building up their independence ready to move to reception class in September, but you can help us by encouraging your children to get dressed and undressed on their own, put on and do up their coats and shoes.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to come in and speak to us, we are always here.
