05/2015 - Healthy Eating at Coleraine Park
At HPACP we pride ourselves on promoting healthy eating and providing well-balanced academy lunches. It is important that children who bring lunch are eating just as healthily as those who have academy lunches. Therefore we are launching a new initiative to ensure we have the healthiest packed lunches in London.
This week, we spotted some well balanced lunches which shows that some parents work very hard to ensure their children are eating healthily.
Next half term we are going to be celebrating healthy packed lunches and informing you of how healthy your child’s packed lunch is.
We ask that you provide a main meal e.g. sandwich with fish, meat, or cheese and salad on brown bread or a pasta/rice dish with broccoli and boiled egg or fish or meat. Your child can bring a dessert of yoghurt, fruit or a healthy home baked cake.
Please note, from now on crisps, biscuits, chocolate and flavoured croissants and long-lasting pre-wrapped cakes are not allowed. These are full of sugar and empty calories that do not help sustain your child’s concentration in the afternoon.
Please remember academy lunches are free to R Y1, Y2 children.
Please get ready for our healthy eating campaign which starts in a couple of weeks, as those who do bring the healthiest lunches will receive a certificate, and could become a Coleraine Park Healthy Hero.
