We believe that all children should be equally valued at our Academy. We will strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and to develop an environment where all children can flourish and feel safe. We have a rage of agreed policies.

Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park is committed to inclusion and part of the Academy’s strategic planning involves developing cultures, policies and practices that include all learners. We aim to engender a sense of community and belonging, and to offer new opportunities to learners who may have experienced previous difficulties. This does not mean that we will treat all learners in the same way, but that we will respond to learners in ways that take in to account their varied life experiences and needs.

We believe that educational inclusion is about equal opportunities for all learners, whatever their age, gender, demographic group, ethnicity, additional need, attainment and background. We pay particular attention to the provision for and the achievement of different groups of learners:

  • Students from families that are financially disadvantaged (PP - Pupil Premium)

Pupil Premium Spending and Impact

Pupil Premium is additional funding give to publicly funded schools and academies in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

Schools will also receive additional funding for each Looked After Child (LAC).

As a part of the Pupil Premium agreement, schools and academies are required to publish details online each year to show how the Pupil Premium Grant is being used. This information is provided in the documentation below.

PE & Sport Premium

In 2019-2020 we received £19,360 of PE and sport premium funding. This money was used to provide children in key stage 2 with the opportunity to take part in the Haringey school sports competition programme where they have the opportunity to compete against many different schools in the Haringey borough in different sports such as cross country, football, tag rugby, gymnastics, tennis etc. The premium was also used for children in key stage 2 to provide them with top up swimming lessons at the Olympic pool in Stratford so they are able to leave school in year 6 being able to swim 25m confidently in one or more strokes. The premium was used to buy PE and playground equipment throughout the year to ensure all children are able to further develop their skills in new activities during both PE lessons and breaks. Finally, we provided many different after school clubs throughout the year, so all children have access to further develop their skills from PE lessons as well encouraging healthy active lifestyles and life-long enjoyment and participation.

In 2020-21 we received £19,510 of PE and sport premium funding. This money will be used to provide an additional 3 hours of physical activity per week for all children in addition to their 2 hours of PE per week. We aim to increase physical activity for all children over and above the statutory PE requirement, to address the sedentary limitations of lockdown and the result in drop in fitness levels and increased weight gain. Resulting in an improvement of well-being and a healthy active lifestyle regained. This will carry on throughout the entire year.

In 2022-23 we received £19,500 of PE and sport premium funding. This money will be used to increase opportunities for children to participate in sport beyond of the PE curriculum and address the inequalities of advantage. We will challenge children with the most potential by increasing competitive sport involvement. 

In 2023-24 we received £19,540 of PE and sport premium funding. This money will be used to increase opportunities for children to participate in sport beyond of the PE curriculum and address the inequalities of advantage. We will challenge children with the most potential by increasing competitive sport involvement. We will improve the competence and confidence of targeted children, and ensure sufficient good quality equipment and provision at the academy.
